Project: In-use measurement of dual-fuel diesel engine emissions
My research project aims to revolutionize the use of hydrogen in heavy-duty diesel engines by exploring a practical and sustainable approach. By utilizing port injection of hydrogen alongside pilot diesel ignition, we seek to decarbonize diesel engines while simultaneously reducing particulate matter emissions. Our team specializes in designing and developing advanced vehicle emission measurement systems and methods, and we conduct real-world emission measurements to investigate the impact of dual fuel combustion on engine performance and emission characteristics. Our ultimate goal is to explore the potential benefits and limitations of the hydrogen-diesel dual-fuel engine in a real-world setting, with the aim of finding an efficient strategy to significantly reduce greenhouse gas and pollutant emissions from heavy-duty vehicles.
